""You are holding the iPhone4 wrong" - Steve Jobs"
Frank Lloyd Wright was famous to never admitting to a problem on his house design. When one client complained about a leaking roof right where he sat, he famously told the house owner "why don't you move your chair?". The perfection of design on the iPhone4 antenna is prevalent. It however has a slight problem early adopters are discovering if you hold it with your left hand. Steve Jobs responds as only a perfectionist can - "you are holding it wrong"

The Malleable Computer - Tablet
"Tablet Cases will determine form factor. Fascinating change to idea of a computer."
COMMENT : Tablet Cases will determine form factor. Fascinating change to idea of a computer. If dock port accessory become popular as well for the tablet then this idea carries further. Essentially the tablet is the base, you then build off it depending on the features you want. Keyboard, extra storage, 3G, video camera, etc.

Microsofts Incredible Tablet Demo
"it was a skunkworks project deep inside Microsoft, only known to the few engineers and executives working on it—Microsoft's brightest, like Entertainment & Devices tech chief"
MS truly is the car maker equivalent of the tech word. It excels at absolutely incredible tech video demos that never, ever seem to see the light of day. Every 3 years Microsoft announces some unbelievable piece of tech that is 'just about to come out'. Then it releases some clunker with barely a hint of what it promised. It promises the moon, and we get the zune.

Cheap Connected Devices Becoming Reality
"The iriver NV mini bike edition is a sliced-down version of their NV classic, keeping the touchscreen, GPS and media playback ...The 3.5-inch 320 x 240 touchscreen is half the size of that of the NV classic, but iriver have scaled up the UI to make gloved cyclists’ fingers more welcome"
Each year we seem to be getting closer and closer to 'connected devices' everywhere future. Main sticking point is no longer the technology but the price. iRiver, the most underrated tech company of our time, continues to innovate with a GPS large screen bike computer that costs around $160US. Someone will come out with the connected super cheap developer friendly device and have unheard of market penetration. Apple, Palm, Nintendo?

COMMENT : Time to Make the iPod Touch A Platform
"comment"
Time to make the iPod Touch into a true platform. High end model with GPS and Camera for those refusing to use AT&T. A low end cheap one to truly set fire to the portable gaming world and scare the Nintendo DS to its core. Since its a platform they could then roll various sized tablets into the family.

Apple Event And Future of Book Business
"Apple event next week."
The Apple Tablet will come eventually, and what will this mean to book stores? Only thing that got me buying the occasional blu-ray is the itunes digital copy it now includes. I love everything about physical bookstores from the smell to knowing what is showcased is the owners hand picked selection. Its a farmers market of ideas. Here is hoping that buying a hardcover or tradeback in the future gives a free copy of the digital version. AND the digital version from iTunes including a discount for the physical copy.

Comment: Apple Tablet Release Date Battle. The iPhone Precedence
"That means that the device, which is expected to retail for somewhere between the cost of a high-end iPhone and Apple's most affordable Mac notebook, is bound to turn up any time between January and March."
Media reports are conflicting between a fall 09 release or early 2010 release. However like the iPhone, developers will need time to adapt their apps to the device. Announce in 2009, release in 2010. Number one Xmas present? Apple Gift Cards. Here is hoping inspiration is derived from the perfectly formed 9.5" moleskin.

First interface to really look like a fashion ad. Rather than focus on information in a intuitive and nicely designed manner, it appears the goal was a high designed interface that also presents information. The GUI looks like a magazine ad. Functional? Scalable?

Cool Visualization of iPhone Apps Sold in Real Time
"Today at Apple’s WWDC event in San Francisco, Apple had a bunch of Cinema Display monitors mounted together on a wall showing what looked to be some sort of pulsating canvas. But a closer look revealed that it was actually a huge collection of icons for many of the apps available in the App Store, arranged by color. Apparently, when someone purchased one, that app’s icon would pulsate, creating the effect."
App pulsates when someone buys the app. Awesome visualization of purchase data.

Dual Mode Screen - Viewable in Sunlight
"Put simply, we've never seen a laptop display look as good in broad daylight as Pixel Qi's display, and even though there's no striking colors in the black-and-white e-ink mode, at least you can see the thing (clearly, at that) without squinting"
Originally used invented for the OLPC, now commercialized. A product that beautifully solves a problem both smartphones and laptops have. We sometimes want full color display, sometimes we want low power black and white readable in sunlight displays. This amazing screen has both.
